Saving a Bird by Clara olde Heuvel

Saving a Bird - by Clara olde Heuvel

So small and tiny

I felt your body

Your feet so

skinny

You were frightened

inside our house you would have died

suffocated

you flew against the windowpane

against the fridge

you tried to hide behind the fridge

in a tiny small corner

Finally I caught you and

let you out

Though you didn't fly away directly

You were worn out

The air was gone

I provided you some water

and you gazed at me
with your beautiful eyes

feeling safe in my hands

you gathered up your strength

and flew away again

  1. Clara, I wonder what message the bird was delivering to you in your kitchen? She seems to have given you much awe and wonder. For me, the bird signifies a reminder that even though we may seem small, with wings we can fly anywhere. Thank you for portraying the bird's vulnerability so well.
