PRELUDE AND PARADE

PRELUDE AND PARADE

After one day away, I watch as Twitter operas
Into action. The chorale sings of illusions
That litter and line each fouled street. There,
The ants watch us, amused, as fires form
Within flowers, and the rich tend to statues
While more black lives shatter, angry mouths

Falling open to tongue and taste
Fresh defeat. And so, to this Volume Two,
Life After Lockdown. Which will not be life,
As imagined, as Corona carries on.
For the Coronics return, irritations irrigating,
Turning parched land to river and the peaceful

Parade to mad throng. Another black man
Murdered. And still more lies to follow.
And perhaps, poetry as Detective;
The private heart’s Public Eye.
In this, The Covidian Age, I re-introduce myself.
My name’s David. Where there is dark,

I’ll describe it, for in the colours to come,
Visions die. So, let these be intermittent
Reports, as I resume my word whisper
And may our lines bind us as we question
And quake and defy. As it begins,
This second book may prove endless.

To those who listen, we’ll bind it.
And attempt to co-author and to publish
Ourselves through foresight. We will talk
When we can. There are no chapters now,
Only fragments. Preludes are symphonic.
Let the themes converge.

Songs:

Sit tight.
